What legacy would you like to leave behind?

I stumbled on YouTube on “Gandhi”, the full movie (3hrs 15min.). It was about 11pm, and I couldn’t go to sleep before watching it all.
What struck me was Gandhi’s influence on people with his commitment to live a life with integrity. He didn’t back off in front of authority figures, and always assumed responsibility for his actions. He was ready to die to respect his principles, and he did walk his talk: “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
Yes, Mahatma Gandhi is a predominant figure of our history, but he achieved this status by living his life with integrity, toward his vision. His words and the reasons behind his actions apply to each of us!

This movie reminded me why I am on… my path. None of us is Gandhi, we are all different! But we should allow our uniqueness to shine, to create a better future. I know, life could get in the way if we don’t take charge of our lives, by becoming responsible of our actions and living a life of integrity.

Gandhi understood how his simple actions could impact the world. He chose them wisely, assumed responsibility for his actions… and all these contributed to the legacy he left behind.

What legacy would you like to leave behind? And how can you make it happen, one step a a time?

PS: If you’d like to watch the “Gandhi” full movie on YouTube:

  1. Thanks, Vic! I’m looking forward to reading your essay on it… please share your thoughts with us all. I’ll look for the Autobiography of Gandhi.

  2. Vic Rana says:

Excellent post. Actually Gandhi was much more than what he is perceived to be.

Any friend who is serious about understanding the Higher Goal or the Truth, I gift them Autobiography of Gandhi: Story of My Experiments with Truth first.

He used the subtle principles of Faith, Truth and Non Violence in most difficult situations..unlike any other human in modern times.

I can write an essay on it..but will limit myself here..:-)
