Perspectives (It didn’t work!)

One of my clients decided to listen more angelic music during the following week, to bring her more hope and positive thinking.
At the beginning of the next coaching session, she affirmed with a strong voice: “Listening angelic music doesn’t work for me! Instead of calmness and hope, I’ve got so much anger! I stopped listening.”

Her perspective: It didn’t work
My perspective: In fact, it did work! 🙂

She compared her expectations with the immediate results she got after listening for a few times that type of music. The fact that she did get a reaction, a strong one, is a proof that angelic music did work … helping her to bring to the surface some of the anger (from previous experiences) that was deep buried into her unconscious mind, ready to be released!

If she would continue to listen patiently that kind of music, she would get the results she wanted. As in any natural treatment, it could be an unexpected reaction at the beginning, before it gets better. But if we continue, the results are long lasting.

Hope and positive thinking cannot “live” along with anger, and other negative feelings. By releasing the negative feelings first, we make “space” for the positive ones to be experienced.

I’d like to draw attention to three aspects related to perspectives:
1. Patience
If we have a certain perspective (belief) on what should happen, comparing too early the results with our expectation(s) might be disappointing. Patience is important!
2. Perspectives and limiting beliefs
Our perspectives could act as limiting beliefs, blocking us to continue (as in her case). Before making a new decision, it’s important to ponder the situation from different perspectives to get a better understanding of what’s going on.
3. Attachment to results
When we decide to do something (set an intention), we shouldn’t be attached to the results. The journey of getting there worth more than the destination. The results we get might be even more important than those we’ve expected.
Also, if we’re attached to the expected results during the journey, we might not be open enough to learn from it, and to the new opportunities that open up to get us closer to our intention.

What else would you like to add about perspectives? 🙂
